I had a friend in high school who wrote an article for the school paper title "What grinds my gears." And every week he would write about 3-4 things that were rather annoying, and for the most part, the general population would agree with the.
Some examples would be things like:
~Cherry Creek school district (almost) never having a snow day, despite 3 feet of snow on the ground
~Freshmen parking in the senior parking lot
~People putting guy under the desks
As you can see, they were pretty basic complaints, nothing to political, or opinionated.
And so....
Here is what really "Grinds my gears"
Wait-lists.
I am currently on a very lllloooooooooooonnnnngggg wait-list to get into an Organic Chemistry lab.
We pay thousands and thousands of dollars in tuition, you would think they would be able to find a way to add in 1 or 2 more lab times.
The part that really grinds my gears is the fact that the lecture has a capacity for 200+ students, yet for some reason there is only enough lab space for 110 students. What about the extra 90+ kids who need to take the lab?
I am not going to go any further into my rant and will conclude with this:
Wait-lists (and class capacities for that matter) really grind my gears.

A gift from the clouds...
Yes I know it has been a bit of time since my last post, but I have been enjoying a gift from the clouds!
In Colorado, "April showers bring May flowers," doesn't exactly apply here. A more accurate choice of words would be, "April showers bring May blizzards." So what do April blizzards bring?
SNOW DAYS!
Twice this week classes have been cancelled, and there for one exam has been pushed back a week, and an online quiz has been pushed back 3 days. And to be frank, I couldn't be happier!
I am not normally one who likes snow days (no tuition refunds!) but this little present from the clouds is a much welcomed one! (Between the lines: more study time!)
So enjoy natures gifts my friends, even the ones that cause you to abandon your car in a parking lot.

May I borrow a few fingers?
As I spend my Saturday morning registering for summer school (insert a sarcastic yay! here,) i stumble upon what sounds like a VERY interesting course!!
Medical Anthropology!
I have always been interested in people and other cultures, and clearly I am interested in medicine, and so I have a slight feeling that this course may have been made for me!!
The only problem is the this particular course requires a prerequisite (my immortal enemy!) that I will also be taking this summer.
Therefor, if I want to take the course this summer, I need to get an override form the professor who teaches the course.
So this is where I need to borrow a few fingers!
The request has been sent, keep them crossed for me!

Unique experiences
In fall of 2011 I got to take my first and only class with my older brother
Now I am sure at this point you are asking, "You went scuba diving? In Utah?"
Scuba Diving!
So that October we made the ~500 mile drive to Utah to get our open water certification.
It was incredible!!
Here is a photo of me at an underwater charity poker tournament! The guy is my brother.
I tell you that to tell you this:
For the love of my life's birthday I paid for scuba diving lessons so he would also be certified when we go to Mexico this summer with my parents. We have a full day of diving planned so it was important he got his certification!
So once again, I made the journey!
It is the entire length of Wyoming (not my favorite state to drive across....)
And a tiny ways into Utah
Now I am sure at this point you are asking, "You went scuba diving? In Utah?"
YES!
In a little town near Park City (where they held the 2002 winter Olympics,) there is a geothermal crater (The Homestead Crater)
The water is a fabulous 94 degrees! It is like diving in a hot tub!
[For my fellow bachelor fans out there: this is the same crater Ben went on a date to and the repelled in the top, you can't go in the top, but still very cool!]
It was a fun experience and I encourage everyone to put it on their bucket list of cool places to see!
However, with that, I am so happy to be home!
Love always!

Fantasyland
I think my Organic Chemistry Professor lives in a fantasy land!
In what world is a 58% a really good class average?
She kept trying to make it sound really good and calling it a D or a B.... I have seen her syllabus, a 58 is an F
Rant over

Good Intentions
Well, I had them....
I really did mean to study hard.....
And I really did study......some.....
But alas, the OChem exam came, and went...
I suppose we will just have to wait and see how it went....
At least I can drop one exam!!!

Lurking in the shadows
Last night was quite possibly one of the most interesting nights of my life!
I got my first chance to shadow in the ER of a local hospital!!!
Since emergency medicine is one of biggest areas of interest lately, you can only imagine how excited I was!!!!
I met a wonderful DO (another interest of mine as I just like their approach to medicine) who took me everywhere with her! And a HUGE thank you to all of the patients for allowing me to listen in! And with that a HUGE thank you to everyone and everyone who allows students like myself to come into the room, you make a really big difference and play a great role in our education!!
Now I can't tell you much about what I saw, but I would like to say the two things I learned last night were as follows:
1) Getting old is rough
and
2) DO NOT DO drugs!!!!
seriously.....don't
